thats been on there for ages rich , what about the thread recently where the fellah wants someone to have a look at a 2nd gen with him , there was a cheap 3rd gen i that thread
i never knew that.i used to go looking around that guys place when i used to lodge in southampton 6 years ago and he had some good motors there then but don't know what the place is like now tho.
Or you could have a chat with Mr surf Andy and see what he has got or can get you
dude keep yours unless there's anything up with it, just spend say 1.5- 2k on a 3.0TD transplant, another .5k on a damn good service and 1.5k to play with for a bit more lift new tyres and a bit of bling...
...but then i guess you're throwing £4k at a truck that'll probably only be worth say £2k afterwards
Maybe you should go for a third gen for reliability if it's gotta last 5 years, or go for an estate as a daily driver and keep your current surf as a toy??

I only have space for one car where I live now, and I've decided I really want 4 doors, the 2 door looks cool, but if you're moving stuff about, including people, it is no good....so, am still looking for the nuts of a 2nd gen and may ask Tony nicely if he'll give it a good seeing to!
As the 2nd Gen is more Robust & you go offroad quite a lot, I'd go for 3.0 2nd Gen. Your HAIRS minigin & L'oreal would'nt want to know you. Fairy Liquid or Swarfega might do the Trick though
I'd go 3rd gen. Stick some half decent tyres on and you're away.
I've been over some of the meanest tracks in Wales this year. The stock 3rd gens that have been with us have amazed me with their ability. Not once have they got stuck. And in Cornwall last year Rob was taking his where I feared to tread!
I'll get a 3rd gen one day and not give a flying fox about the hairdresser jokes. Just mod it as you go along.
