this must be the day for job offers , i went earlier to a bodyshop not far from where i live that is owned by my old workshop manager, and after a little chat hes offered me a job there and said i can start as soon as i want,
i currently earn £6.80 per hour as a mobile smart repairer and get paid weekly, today ive been offered £7.50 per hour as a panel beater/prepper/painter but paid monthly.
got some serious thinking to do today about whether to hand in my notice tomorrow or not.

It works out at about £35/week extra before tax, so you need to weigh up what you like best about each job, and the perks of being on the road versus being in a shop.

cheers plumb-bob. yours did sound better. but i was going out so i sent them mine. he has already replied saying no problem, and he will send out an ammended contract tomorrow.
when this sort of thing happens, you wonder what you could have pushed for. looks like im going to be tight for 6 months, but i think it will be worth it..

          cheers you lot

            Yeah, congrats.

However, if you have had lots of offers, tell 'em you want £23k (as agreed) or they're not on. They'll be right back with the cash if they really want you.

I got what I asked for in my current job, no argument. It was more than my previous job with MOD. Wish I'd been cheeky and asked for more now!

it's wierd to see jobs that i've always thought were well payed, actually pay very little.

i had a call today from some agency in north london, driving nights for citylink... he offered £25,700 +£3k guaranteed overtime... the way he spoke you'd think i'd won the lottery!
"no thanks, i can earn that driving days in a transit!"

they won't even come to me for an interview!...

There are well paid jobs out there, but they aint in the papers or the agencys (agencies want their cut!)

Know what you mean though Slug, I had to travel 2 miles to the interview for my latest job!!!!

My last 2 jobs have been through word of mouth. Though my pay hasn't gone up in 2 years
