yes mate i have changed the relay but!!!

it wouldnt start.there was no earth(it was connected to the aircon bundle)
so am back on the original.i am thinking that it is the hardwired earth making a circuit and draining back through the ignition system.i am going to get the rac bloke to verify this,and if this is the case(cos i have brand new batteries),i will extend the cabling into the cab and fit a switch.on the bright side it nay make a good immobiliser!!

am pretty sure its not the alternator cos when it has been running for 5 mins its able to start under its own steam.

so you changed the relay and removed the earth from it.is that right,maybe your relay has welded itself together thats why it was back feeding into the ignition switch.

I sat on the A55 in Wales & i waited for 6 Hours in the Freezing cold.
Cam belt had snapped on a Rover 416 SLI, I had enough battery left for a 999 call as i was on the edge of having HYPERTHERMEA.
I complained & got a BMW 323i Courtesy car paid by the AA.

ys mate.am back on the starter relay that we put the new earth on at yours.it has been starting fine,just draining back somewhere!!,and my suspicion is that earth(from the realay to the earth terminal.)
