Tesco Veg Oil Prices :(

Just been to Tescos in Blackpool to do a shop and get some veg oil. Their prices have shot up! The 10ltr bottles I had been getting for £5.29 are now £6.99 (17p/ltr increase). The 15ltr drums have gone up too, but not as much, they're now about 66p/ltr. Even the 3ltr bottles are nearly £2. Looks like the bubble has burst.

ASDA 3ltr is 1.67. just bought a load from there. Makro Rape seed is 11.99 for 20ltrs.

LIDL were doing 56p per ltr last sunday (may still be the same) as tesco had run out. Only drawback is its in 1ltr bottles, luckily easy to carry 15 to a box!

I'm gonna check the Asda in Preston today, they're pretty handy as I work next door. They stopped selling the bigger 10ltr+ bottles a little while back, but they were still doing a good price for the 3ltr bottles. Might be time to do a big stock-up.

Just got the 20lt boxes from macro and they're now 12.50'ish as apposed to just under a tenner ! could the reason they've slapped 2p duty on fuel and the increase in veg oil be any thing to do with the number of people now using veg oil ????

Macdonalds is converting their fleet of lorries to run on the WVO that comes from their outlets, so what's to stop tescos and the other supermarkets from converting to SVO, which will increase demand considerably, and there fore push up the price, or they increase the price to subsidise their fleet.

With derv now above £1/litre I'm glad I got rid of my 25mpg LT35, and changed to my 50mpg ( yet to be confirmed) berlingo, and that my 20mpg surf runs on veg oil

Just a thought;

Most of the new vehicles seem to be HDi or common rail, neither of which will run on SVO (without very costly conversions), so how green are these manufacturers who refuse to build an engine capable of running on a green fuel such as SVO/WVO?

Just been to get 6x 3lt bottles of oil and it's gone up 36p, i paid £1.62 a bottle last friday and £1.98 today, how the f**k can they justify a hike like that, cashing in on the good old "put up with anything" british public yet again, and if anyone stands up and shouts about it the media make em out to be left wing troublemaking loonies, wont be long before its more expensive than derv, ba$tards,

well I would advise that you all go to lidl for their 1 litre bottles of corn oil at 49p a litre. but if I did that then there would be absolutely none left for anyone! I bought everything they had on saturday - 7 bottles for £3.x something
