Look for SVA test on the DVLA website.

You have to take it to a ministry test station (HGV's) I think it costs about £150 - but there's more to it than that.

Contact MRSURF on this site - its what he does!

also if im correct, dont forget that as a new import it will be eligible to be in the higher road tax band, i.e £300, a amte bought an impreza a few months back, even though it was a 1998 impreza, becasue it was freshly imported a few months ago, he has to pay £300 a year tax.

i could be wrong but be aware of the extra cost

It's dead easy to do yourself if the vehicle is more than 10 years old - no SVA just get an mot done, fill in the correct dvla form and part with money. My '93 2nd gen costs £175 for road tax - I can't remember what the registration cost was but it wasn't that bad.

thats what i thought, but apparently it also includes anything imported after 2006 no matter what the year of manufacture is .

My '93 2nd gen was first registered in this country in Nov 2006 and I "only" pay £175. I don't know if it changed after that.
