  • Got the horn....

fitted and finished fitting the onboard air system which supplies the horns and i have also fitted a push fitting for air tools (handy when your tyres need air). The tank will also supply air for the air bag suspension which i will be adding very soon. Firstly i need to get Tony to do my suspension and body lift so as to get the right size bags. I am going to remove the bump stop/jounce from either side on the back and have brackets fabbed to accept the air bags and there will be no need for the stops as the bags will always be inflated to a min of 6 psi. Wehey, can't wait, like a dog with two c*cks. Anyway heres a few pics of the job so far.....

These are the air bags i will be using:

Most excellent. Are you going to fit some sort of skid plate to protect the air tank when off-roading?

The air bags will be coming from our cousins across the pond. After the government have taken their share they wil be about £180. The horns, Air tank and compressor was about £300 from U.S. but i had them a while ago and took them off my old truck.

Mine is a 3 gal but you can gat a 1 gal which is flatter and round. Costs about £30ish. You might be able to run them straight from a compressor, give it a whirl and see what sound it produces. They look like genuine train horns, where did you get them?
The tank size ony matters when you want continuous air so for a horn which you only usually give a quick blast you shouldn't need anything more than a compressor.

They can be fitted under the rear of the vehicle cos they are extremely loud and unlike standard vehicle horns they are heard in all directions, especially if they face the floor. Sounds daft i know but the sound is actually amplified as it hits the floor and then charges at joe bloggs walking innocently by thus creating instant loss of hearing and bowell control.
