Manuals download site

Just a quick question for anyone who has used the ftp site. Has anyone experienced problems due to firewalls or such, (excluding Internet Explorer problems as that is just $$$$ at ftp), when connecting or downloading to/from the ftp site where the manuals and EPC's are located?

Would it be preferable for the manuals and EPC's to be downloadable from both locations, both the ftp and http sites?

downloaded a few of them a while back, either direct through ie or could've used getright can't remember
