  • European Run to the Sun

    Hello,

There was a bit of banter a while back about a gang of us legging it over to Europe next summer.

So a general type of question - who fancies it and where would we go???

    Timing to follow.................

France is easy for me and Nero, ( a lot easier than Wales) germany is a bit too far me thinks, Ireland is probably just as far as germany, although I do have a lot of relatives in Co. Limerick, and a place where we could probably camp and use as a base ( my old family home, derilict, but on many acres of farm land, although permission would have to be got from a courtesy point of view.

But to be honest I'm up for anywhere,

I asked that when I was last there, but the ownership is between so many grandchildren now that I doubt it will ever get sorted, which is a real shame, cos its a 17/18th century country house on 3/4 floors, many bedrooms etc, but the roof is collapsed, and the floors are unsafe and the stonework is starting to fall.

It is not beyond salvage, but would probably swallow best part of a million £ to get it back to habitable.

                  Oh, and it is huge!

I guess it'd be ok for the southern/middle Britain surfers, as there are many places to get ferries, trains etc and we could meet up somewhere in noerthern france, and convoy from there.

Yeah, could probably be tempted by France and bringing back loads of cheap plonk into the bargain, though Belgium looks good too if combined with Spa GP next year
