  • Why Did This Happen?

After work I went to the car wash to give the Surf her weekly hose down. The high pressure jet washer seemed to go on longer than usual so I thought I'd blast some of the c rap off underneath (still there from Weardale).

When the washer stopped and I started her up the revs shot up to around 3,500 and remained there for about 30 seconds before settling down to normal tick over speed.

Anyone have any idea why this happened?

is it ok now? or does it do it every time it starts?
if it were petrol i would may be think that water shorted a temp sensor or throttle position sensor may be.
diesels dont have chokes so dunno.

Ha! Slim chance, Rod! Owned the truck for a year and that's the first time anything 'dodgy' has happened. Started it a couple of times since and everything is 'tickity boo' again.

By the way has anyone had any problems running corn oil (49p a litre at Lidl)? My veggie oil experience has been non problematic to date and don't want to spoil it now just to save another 4p a litre.

                  water injection.....
it pos sucked water a small amount into the combustion chambers thru the air filter.

if you ever get your aircon recharged for a laugh get the engineer to release his gas into the airfilter intake and watch wot happens at the rear of the truck

It's a built in sensor on the 3.0l, it's half way to a 3rd gen so they installed a water sensor for dippy blonde hairdressers, so when following the satnav and it directs you through a ford it keeps the revs up so as not to suck water back up the exhaust.
