Vaccum Pipes?

I love exploring my engine bay. Especially when you find various bits that have been disconnected.

For example. This little hose, the left hand side was gaffa taped up, the right hand side (which connects to a metal pipe held in place on the EFI).

What does it do? Any links to where I can read more about this stuff?

And importantly does it matter that it was taped up?

Replace the damaged hoses or you may loose all vacuum for the ADD as well as everything on the passenger side.
