The dreaded MOT is looming, am waiting for some new tyres to arrive as one of mine has worn terribly on the inside edge which i am sure will be an MOT failure. Questions is, do all 4 tyres need to be same size to pass MOT as i was planning on putting on the spare for MOT to get past worn tyre problem but spare is a different size.

a few new cars have diferant size front to back i think the smart car is one
Not just new cars… the 1990 Toyota MR2 G-limited I owned came as standard with wider tyres on the back, part of the design for improved handling in a mid-engined car.
Tyres fitted to the same axel need to be the same size, diameter & width and ideally should be the same / similar tread pattern. Just think how uneven the handling and braking would be with a skinny road tread on one side and a chunky mud terrain on the other sideMine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL
