  • What's the best way to remove the dash?

On my 2nd Gen - I fitted my inclinometer the other week, and some of the nuts I was trying to use, on the end of my flexi driver thingy, flew off and are now playing around in the dash somewhere.....

So - I've now decided to take the whole dash off on Friday, fit my new speakers and stereo, find and remove the nuts, and put some accoustic damping stuff in to lessen the rattling - so does anyone have any ideas of how to take it all apart?

    TIA

I know what you mean - this is the 3rd stereo I've fitted to the Surf in 19 months (just like new stuff) and it took me AGES to fit the inclinometer - so it's an early start, no coffee, just get on with it, be patient and do it right....

Will it be back in for Saturday?

Speaker pods are easy, as is the centre area (stereo). Never taken the whole dashe out though.

That's the plan mate - stereo is a piece of cake, I can fit that in less than an hour - rear speakers, also nice and easy - but I want to get the inclinometer fitted better, and the screws all replaced in the dash, make it nice and snug....fit the new front speakers, accoustic damping for all 4 (nice new Alpine ones and a stereo that has an iPod connection and USB)..

I'll work it out and let you know how I did it.

Front speakers are easy too. You'll have a job acoustically damping them as they're in wee enclosures. You could stick something in them before you put the new drivers in, but it'll be a bit hit and miss as to whether it'll improve anything.

                        Built your light bar yet?!

Yeah!!!! That's the other reason for sorting the dash, need to wire it up on Friday - it looks great, but will look better when it's plugged in though..

Hehe, I've taken mine off until the nights draw in.

Got battered a bit in the trees at Strata / Sarn Helen.
