  • Roof rack idea!!

Joker you don't need to comment

Was thinking of doing somethin like this. Hopefully picking up a roof rack off of a transit, well it is free and with some modifications might be ok.

Ladder each side for rear support which can be bolted onto bumper and original front roof bars for support there.

    What you folks think???

And you can bolt all your roof lights to the front of the rack - most excellent.

            Yeah, go for it!

I'd agree with Joker though. Keep the ladders straight for better strength. Just get a spare wheel and a couple of jerrycans up there and it'll look the dogs!

I reckon you got twice as many rungs as you need in the ladder and it looks cool with the kink in it, just stick some gussets in it and dont listen to these heathans...

Thinking about it, it'll need a bend in it anyway to follow the side profile of theb truck...

                    Does look great though!

Not if you move the bottom of the ladder to just behind the rear wheelarch, would just fit.

Just had a look on eBay. There's loads!

Would need mods as tranny roofs are much wider than surfs. Grinder and a welder...

Must learn to weld cos that looks like a seriously useful mod!

If you do it, be ready for 'pan-pipe-moods' type sounds when you go over 50mph. The landy I used to use for trials had one, and it was like carrying $$$$$$ Jethro Tull around on the roof at speed!

Smiffy, how much stuff do you need to carry around with you anyway!!?? sheesh!

Seriously though, I think it's excellent.

I agree with Chillitt, halve the amount of rungs, unless you have very short legs of course.
