  • Turbo boost

My brother came around today and drove my 3L surf he told me there seemed like there was no boost ie the engine never seemed to pull harder at whatever revs the boost is supposed to come in at, I then drove his L200 and noticed around 2300 revs his pulled stronger as the turbo came in.....i've owned my truck for over a year now and think its fine it seems to drive super smooth and great...i was just wondering should i feel the turbo pull at certain revs and if so what sort of revs should the turbo kick in at also one more thing what is the standard boost pressure ment to be on a 3l non intercooled model.

    Many Thanks

most turbo diesels will cut in around 2000rpm. a good test is do an early change to 2nd gear so your revs are almost at idle - then plant it and wait, you will notice the difference when your turbo gets a move on.

did you feel the pull when the turbo come in?
if you dont then you could have a boost leak somewhere
