Best to check that the LSD is still operating as one before you spend the extra on the oil, and if it's not then you could look into the costs of repairing the clutch thingie, or just use it as it is.

          Glad you got sorted.

                  hi bud i

i dont think that you can i think the only way would be to to get the 4 runner on the soft and see how the wheels cope and as the 4 runner has not got the engine in it i think it is suck it and see that is y i want to tack the back and fount axle out and not just the diffs ask the boy that is fitting the diff what he thinks and get back to me as i as taking the axles out is the way i would do it and then you will not have to set the back lash on the diff there are come ing out on Sunday so ask the boy and get back to me bud and what are surf buds for surf life to the max

There's an outside chance I could come and lend a hand if it might help? The missus is off to the hills one day this weekend but the other day I'm free.

Before you take the diff out get someone to hold the prop shaft and then turn one of the wheels . If the other wheel turns in the same direction the LSD is working (in theory) , but may still be worn which you will not fully know till fitted . If the other wheel turns the opposite way its knackered or not an LSD.

                          dave,,,
thanks very much for the offer, but i got jeff and his mate and the guy who i am getting the diffs off of,, and they are all pretty handy with a spanners.

o,, and me,, i'm the gimp for the day,

it shouldnt take that long either, depends on how many tab we smoke.

                          rick,,,
thanks for he info, as jeff said there is no engine in it. another thing,,

there is no diff oil in the diff, its all been drained, so should it still work.

                          gotta love this forum

in my hour of need, other members have pulled out all the stops to pull me out a hole, dave is offering to travel 4hrs round trip just to help a hand,

                          jees,, i'm welling up here

                          again many thanks guys

                            forgot to say jeff,,

spoke to machnic today,, all he wants is the diff out the rear and the half shafts, not the whole axle.

less work getting it out and less work refitting it.

                            cheers scotty
