If they're the same as the rear arches, it's just a small plastic clip in the metal that the screw goes into. If it's been taken off in the past and they knacked up, (plus the fact that Toyota no longer stock those clips), means they probably used rivets on reassembly for the sake of ease.

the rivets are there from where the archs have come off and people lost the screws as they arent present all over, i cut the hole in the inner from the inside, i dislocated my wrist when it bit but that was substandard tools!!!! the outer wing is the easiest bit adn suprisingly enough when i drilled next to the window....

i got a tjm but i imagine it is the same principle.

        hope this helps

The japs seem to have a thing about chinese puzzel clips and fasteners, it's a jap joke that westerners dont get cos i aint f**kin laughing, like most of em i've just hacked em off and replaced em with easier fit things, the grill clips are a case in point,
If your drilling with the wing in place be carefull of the double/triple skin boxing in side, step drill would be the best option or a tight hold on a hole saw,

You don't need to take to arch or wing off if your using hole saws, also you should find there is enough room to get the resonator out without completely removing the liner completely as well

To be honest, I'm liking the TJM snorkels I have here better, not fitted one yet, doing one next week, but they are shorter down the wing, so miss the resonator completely.

So there's enough room to cut the inner hole without removing outer wing?

I cut the outer using the drill / file method, and ended up with a nice smooth circle. I take it the inner wing is harder / thicker metal? Is it best done from under the bonnet?

I'll still need to get some of the liner out to get at the resonator, and as luck would have it, it's riveted each end so I cant just drop one end out of the way without removing at least one rivet. Good to know I can just take one end off though!

Yeah, I just fed the inner hole saw up under the wing, put the drill through the first hole and put it in the chuck and drill away. Be careful of the extra bit of metal on one side of the inner wing as you have to cut half into it, but if the pilot drill is in the right place, its no bother.

Might be more hassle if you're not using a hole saw though, but you have a big hole to got to it now!

Nice size. Is it gonna' be wraparound benching along the walls inside, with lots of wall mounted storage, when it's kitted out?

Oh yes! And I'll have five weeks to kit it out

Just looking tonight at the stuff I've gathered through work and other stuff thats going in there...

                              1) A framed 3ft x 2ft engineering drawing of an AH-64D from Westlands
                              2) A TOW missile eject and flight motor (used - during a trial with the Canadian Army)
                              3) A piece of kevlar rope arounf 3" in diameter. Part of the cable from the longest unsupported cable span in the world on the White Sands Missile Range. We were all given a piece when a SAM fin cut the cable during a trial we were at, bringing down the target plus several million quids worth of kit.
                              4) A framed email from a real live astronaut.
                              5) AA shells of various sizes.
                              6) Various IDs / passes from military ranges all over the world.
                              7) A full set of mission patches from Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs.
                              8) A small BAE Systems laser

Gosh... I've a lot to be thankful for. Fun days...

                              Last day tomorrow
