  • Basement flags.

I`m bored, I spend most of my time outdoors and it`s been raining for 3 weeks. My surf wont fit in the garage so my attention is now turned to my basement. I have 50m2 of genuine stone flags which need restoring to their former glory. What`s the best/easiest/cheapest way of removing all the layers of red floor paint? Heat-gun, sander, jet-wash?

Used a poultice paint stripper. If you use heat, the stone might crack, a sander will have you there for a dogs age, a pressure washer probably wont shift it and will leave the place soaking for months. You could sand blast it off, but that will leave the house full of sand. Top tip, if the paint is sound, just paint it a colour you like.
    it's in me shed, mate.

Thanks, it`s got to come off. It`s started to peel and i`m a fan of natural stone. I even ripped all the old wooden T&G cladding from the walls to get back to the stone-walls and the timber lintels above the doors. Too much Grand Designs and rainy days!
