Bugger!
So, I'm driving to work today down the motorway, when suddenly there is a massive grinding noise, and the steering goes funny. Bugger! I'm just coming up on my exit, so I decide to pull right off the motorway. Coming down the sliproad, only to find that I suddenly have virtually no brakes! Bugger! Thankfully the road is clear, and I manage to pull up OK. A couple of pumps of the pedal seems to restore brake pressure, so I go round the corner and pull up. At this point smoke/steam starts billowing forth from the front passenger wheel. OK, time to call the breakdown company I thinks. Where is my membership card? Bugger! Thankfully I have internet access on my phone, so a quick google brings up the phone number for Britannia, and rescue is on the way.
Breakdown mechanic dude reckons the bearing went, which caused the wheel to wobble around a lot, forcing the brake pads away from the disc, causing the first few pumps of the brakes to have little effect.
