where can i buy a new oil pump? or are they expensive like fuel pumps so is it better getting a recon one?
i dont know if anyone remembers, but i occasionally get a ticking noise below 2000 revs. 50/50 if its there or not. sometimes it is and sometimes its not.
wondering if the oil pump is not quite chucking enough oil up at low revs or may be the oil pump itself is making the noise.
during driving the gauge always reads half way or just below and on the motorway the gauge goes just above halfway but the noise is never heard in these conditions,
its only when the revs are between 800 - 1800rpm - oil pressure is about the 1st line at this point.

ps its not the injectors ive had them changed

where can i buy a pump from?
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

    just to add:
my oil level is spot on always. i use £30 per gallon magnatec, and i change oil/filter when i should
this noise only started happening after i did oil and filter change. i doubt the filter could be making the noise could it?
tonyN said he hasnt heard anything like that before everyone else says the same

Was the fuel filter a genuine or r/trax one, as they have a non return valve fitted in them, and it is possible that this may be "chattering" at low revs.

Don't ask me why, it's just a thought, and it's cheaper to fit new oil filter first than replace oil pump.

On the cost of new pump, I don't think it will be anywhere near the cost of a fuel pump.

thank you for your input mate. appreciated.
at lunch time today i took the car to a diesel specialist. the main bloke and someone who works there may be his son both agreed it was one of the belts, they thought it was the belt on the vacuum pump

so ill keep another belt in the car and if it goes in france (doubt it, the belts look good condition just a bit grey) apparently france has got good diesel mechanics cos most of their cars are diesel ill get someone to do it over there or we will do it ourselfes with the tools we will take. (doubt we will be able to do it with the rubbish tools were taking though) hehe

but before i go, im doing oil, oil filter, and fuel filter anyway

all up for the photos! cant wait to go up mont blanc up the cable car. chamonix looks good just on google maps. there is mountains either side of it.
do you reckon its too cheeky stopping on the worlds tallest suspension bridge in millau? and taking some pictures from above the clouds?

cant think of why i would need a spare oil filter though

Just in case the one you have leaks/fails/clogs/explodes.
