  • Bearings or not?

Right, here goes, Just had both bearings replaced on the rear of the truck. Before they were done, when i pulled away there was a crunch noise coming from the rear axle. When i got the truck back all was fine until this morning when low and behold the crunch is back. My question is this, If it were the bearings that were making the crunching noise as i suspected, why would it be doing it again and so soon after replacing them. The old bearings were completely shot an had shattered into many pieces. so what is this $$$$$$ noise??????

Could the debris from the bearings have damaged the housing, therefore now the new bearings may have failed again??

Not sure, short of putting new hubs on, but I'd try talking to TonyN 1st, just to see if it may be something else causing the crunching noise.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but I'm not a mechanic.

Not greased u/js and diff oil was changed when the second bearing was done as half of it ended up on the floor. Also took it back to mechanic this morning and diff oil leeking from drum again so outer seal is kaput. Roughtrax are sending me a replacement (free) bearing kit. Can't fault roughtrax eh!!!
