Advised that the head on the 2.4 can be prone to cracking. Also, to ensure that it has a new haed not a recon/stitched one. Having the vehicle checked by AA/RAC will this check reveal these facts. Finally, what is BIMTA testing and what is proceedure?

    Many thanks

For the BIMTA look here http://www.bimta.org, an AA/RAC inspection will not tell if the heads cracked unless they do a pressure test on it. It was a design fault on some heads, thats why if it has had work done on the head it needs to be a new head because they were redesigned.
Other than pressure testing the head to see if its already faulty, then it could be alright now and go in 5 months, is if it is claimed to have had a new head fitted is to see the bills for it.

For any other info on BIMTA and on the heads do a search on the forum, both have been covered here several times, in depth.
