  • Newbie from Bristol

    Hi,

My name is Glyn, and I am now the owner of a 1992 surf ssr-x in grey, with 60,000 miles on the clock.

It was bought to carry my scuba diving kit as my previous vehicle ( Saab 95 saloon ) was awkward to get twinsets and diving kit in and out of the boot, though I do have a few regrets losing this car as it was uber reliable.

I took delivery of it yesterday, and so far am pleased with the way it handles and looks.

My only niggle with it is that, after driving up to Roughtrax in Keynsham to get an owners manual, they told me that the steering wheel on it is from a Hilux pickup, so I would like to get an original steering wheel to replace it.

If anyone has one spare, either in grey or black, I would be interested.

I have looked at the forum posts this morning re removal and remounting a wheel, and seems an easy, if possibly, laborious job.

    Anyway, enough from me.

Welcome aboard the good ship 'Hilux Surf' - have a look around the Parts for Sale section to see if there's a steering wheel there, or eblag may be useful too....

There's loads of people on this site that know all about these fab cars, and can give you loads of advice, then there's me - I just drive mine....

    Cheers - Andrew.

      Greetings and welcome fellow diver..

You will find the tail gate handy for putting your tanks on while you get your kit onto your back. Beats putting them on from the ground any day...
