  • She did it!!!

Well, the day came today where the old bird was having her yearly medical!!

She passed with flying colours, no faults/comments whatsoever! Bostin!!!

I think the 20 litres of Asda's cheapest in the tank may have helped on the emissions test though!!

Just out of interest, the emissions test gave a result of 0.08 whatevers!! Is that good??

    Cheers

Oi Oi!!! I'll tell her that!

The veg oil certainly did the trick for the test, it was just over half full with diesel, so I topped it up to the brim with veg and gave the truck a shake to mix!

It managed for me, far less smoke coming out!

0.08K is the blackness of the smoke taken over an average (I say blackness because i can't spell opacaty (told you I couldn't spell it ))

The first run is always high becuase the motors been ticking over whilst they go through the palava of setting up the machine.

0.08 is very low well within the 3.0k you are allowed.

The test frightens me sh*tless though, revving the nuts of the engine repeatedly.

I beleive you are entitled to request that the stupid smoke test is done on arrival. i.e after youve driven it to the test centre as if youd stolen it and given it a good blow through and its still hot. That should avoid all that annoying revving.
Im certainly going to request this. I strongly suspect that the MOT station overheated my old 2.4 and cracked the head doing just that despite the fact that my cooling system was tip top. Fans all working, rad caps and thermostats new etc etc.
If I remember correctly I read that on the DVLA website but in any case I,ll be asking and will not be taking it to any tester that refuses

Mine passed 0n .07 on the first rev so no more reving up needed (classed as fast pass) if it doesn't pass on first reving up it is required that it is reved several times to get an average
If it aint broke dont fix it

You can ask them to do it straight away, and the offical guidance suggests that they should certainly do that if they are doing the test later in the day, it does save them having to warm up the vehicle again, and as you say, you've already given the engine a clear out

I should have been clearer really, what I meant is during the test they rev the engine from idle, to governed speed, back to idle and can do that up to 6 times , I worked for my local council when the smoke test initally, they revved them up to 10 times "until the governer cuts in" bits of taxi engine were flying everywhere!!!

I seem to remember your post from last year, didn't they have "difficulty" in getting the readings down, and did the test a few times?
