  • manual surfs?

well I must admit to liking the old surf auto but took the new one to the
last weardale farm meeting and it performed much better than the auto
but then again it was not a major test as it was dry up there and as it going to be a shooting scyndicate who owns it there was some areas shut
but the surf did well it pulled the 16ft beavertail trailer with the sons fully modded jimny on plus all the gear for a barbie for 40 people so well impressed with it

Always preferred manuals personally but i guess most of it is down to personal perference.

I had a manual 1st.gen for 2 years and am going next weekend on my first trip with the 3 lt. auto. will let you know... I`m a little bit apprehensive of having the 'gearbox in control' but have`nt used it in low ratio 4wd yet.

my friend wont get a surf auto because he hates autos..
but going off road in a auto in my opinion is the best way to go. what if you get stuck or something- in a manual you would need to slip the clutch and would burn it out. autos dont have this issue. and if you need to select gears then you can.
we had a rental 4x4 and took it for a test. we were trying to climb a hill and kept loosing grip. you could smell the burning.
        Oh Nana, what's my name?

i've got a manual and i love it, it's not about whether auto or manual in my opinion it's down to the drivers skills

Ive owned both manual and auto surfs! both good!

Its probably more down to a matter of opinion, Ask a land Rover driver and they might say manual is better, ask a surf driver and they might say auto

pros and cons for each really!

Either way they all kick a$$ off road! so what it really boils down to is what you want
