    Exactly.
If you have very young children and you take them abroad, then you should protect them ten times more than you would in your own country, and not leave them in a strange hotel room while you go out and get pi**ed!

Spot on. That's why I'm tee total these days. Since we had the kids, neither of us was willing to leave 'em with a babysitter, hence any nights out disappeared into a distant memory. So you can fair imagine what I think should happen to those two so called 'parents'.

Have to agree with most that has been said.
If you drop your kids to school now, you have to walk them in to the class, then when picking them up the child will only be allowed out once the teacher has identified a parent etc (well its this way at my grandsons school)

Now if a teacher was to have let that child out and it went missing the parents would crucify the school and teacher. To me I see no different from the parents leaving the kids alone and a teacher in the example above.

I hope the child is found safe and well. I see no reason why the child should suffer because of the actions of two selfish mindless parents out for their own enjoyment with no thought for the kids.

And excuses like we went back every half hour to check on them don't wash, it takes 30 seconds for a child to go missing.

Its always the innocent who suffer from the actions of idiots, what ever the circumstances.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

Hear Hear , i agree with u all. My eldest son is 11 years and i have only just started leaving him at home just to pop 5 mins down the shop. Would never leave him on his own in a strange country even at his age. I have just about had enough of these pedophiles, i feel as tho i cant protect my own children now and enough is not being done to stop them. The government wasted millions on wars ect ,when the money could have set up hundreds of extra police forces to crack down on these vile criminals. As for the little girl i just pray that she is still alive and they have left her alone. When these vile creatures get caught i would be at the front off the cue to hand out the punishment , and it would not be pretty.

            I feel sorry for Maddie - having two self obsessed parents that she has;
checked every 1/2 hr did they, perhaps they should have concidered
how long does it take to choke?
how long can anyone survive in fire?
after a nightmare how long can 30 mins seem?
how long does it take to be taken, injured, murdered, raped, molested, scared for life?
Still they probably had a verry nice meal and some wine, a few laughs...oh yes and a little walk up the road on a balmy evening every 1/2 hour or so to check on Maddie and the twins..one son....two sons....Maddie....MADDIE
            MADDIE
We dont know about that lovely looking little girl, but I do know this has made me Madder than hellI do hope she returns safe, but I am not convinced that returning home unless those selfish, stupid, so called educated, parents are returned from cloud cuckoo land to this real world!
As in my avatar I JUST DON'T BELEAVE IT!
            Phew ......rant mode off

Yup have to aggree, both my wife and myself said this from the start, i'm amased it hase'nt been made more of in the media, the only time i came anywhere near this feeling was when i once took my youngest (simon) on a plumbing job, he was about 4 and i thought it'd be a little trip for him, i knew the people, worked there before, so he could come in with me, he was strapped in his little chair in the back of my double cab, stopped outside and told him i would'nt be a minuit while i saw wot tools i'd need, two minuite i was gone and he was gone when i came out, that was the worst few minuits of my life, panic terror tears the lot, i found him about five minuits later in a garden three doors along, he'd gone looking for me, we were both crying, never took him again, and we never ever would leave em on their own anywhere, not even when they were 9,10,11, if we could'nt get family to babysit then we did'nt go, that was it! i really hope they find this little girl ok but the longer it gos on the worse it looks,
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

I have got to agree with everything that has been said, children are entirely dependanton their parents for their safety, security and protection, these two "parents" should be disgusted with themselves, as I am with them, we can only hope Maddie is found safe and well

I agree, i have two boys 5 + 6 1/2, i would not dream of leaving them in the room on their own. Doubt anything will be done though, nobody but us dare say anything. hopefully she will be found safe and well.

I too agree with everything said and I hope to god this is going to be one case where the child is found safe against all the odds but those so called educated parents have failed to grasp the very basics of parenthood, you NEVER leave your children unattended. They provided the opportunity for the scum that lurk among us these days.
Anyway its a two by four most of the time....

                          Sorry. Totally disagree with you.

Who are we to judge. Well as a father, I can quite easily judge. They are supposed to be highly educated Doctors, but even so, you just DO NOT leave kids that age on their own. PERIOD. That is not a mistake, that is pure stupidity... and a beautiful young girl is paying for it.

Yes have made plenty off mistakes in my time but never have i left my 3 children at that age in my house let alone in a foreign country . This small little girl is somewhere now alone scared and has had god nows what done to her, and all she wants is to go home. I realize u have your opinion , but all i feel sorry for is Madeleine certainly not the parents although i suspect they are regretting it now.

Yep I have made mistakes, forgot to put oil filter back and poured in fresh oil, all over the drive.
Thought I could get through a deep puddle off roading and got stuck.
I have made plenty, but I have never made a mistake that could cost life or put some body in danger as her parents have.
I think there is a difference in a making a mistake and being selfish.

We all only know facts given to us by the press...

We don't know for fact, how far aware they were for hotel room? If they could see the room from where they were? Did they know people in nearby rooms ? Was it easy for passers by to enter the complex?:

Untill this is known,,,people shouldn't jump on the bandwagon and slag off the parents.

Let's just hope she is found safe and well. All this negativity is not helping anyone....
