How much is the total gross weight?
    Do these Tow Well?
Dose it matter if the clocks are not converted to miles?

Hi & welcome, the 2nd gens weigh about 1850 KG ( 2 tons) and the 3rd gens may be a bit more, they tow pretty well but if you want to tow, get a 3.0ltr.

It doesn't matter about the clocks, they can be converted if you wish.

I prefer driving mine to towing it - on the other hand I've had my caravan up to 85mph going up hill without noticing .....

Dunno about the gross weight - all I know is I can't pick it up !

BTW - welcome to the asylum

Life is too important to take seriously !

        Welcome to the nuthouse mate.
I would have thought the 3rd Gen would be lighter with all that plastic.
If it aint broke dont fix it

No, all the extra hairdryers and curling tongs bump the weight back up again.

Our ace mechanic Tony has towed a few surfs with Linda's 3.0 surf so I cannot see why not, however it may be worth adding an oil cooler

Had this towing conversation with another Surf driver/customer today and nobody knew what the legal towing weight is but some reckoned the legal towable is 2/3rds of the towing vehicle, this would mean a Surf cannot tow a Surf.

I'm goin for ma dinner so yooz can go google

Surfs are great, but for what you're after towing, I'd get a landcruiser..
