    i am just about to buy a Surf 2.4ssrx 1991-92, my insurnace company will only insure it if it has an immbiliser, is one fitted as standard ?

    not as far as I know ... either get a CAT1 fitted or go with different insurance company.

    or tell them you have one fitted , by the time you havr to send them proff , you can get a cat1 fitted , its only about £200 and worth it to protect your surf.

      I've just had one fitted, cost £120.00 insurance approved and now I'm fully insured

        I had one fitted last year (microscan) and the guy totally screwed my engine by wiring one of the circuits into the power for the fuel pump. The immobiliser interfered with voltage to the fuel pump and sent it crazy, causing HUGE black clouds from the exhaust. The next thing that happened was the head cracked and then the turbo chucked its hand in. Couldn't prove it was down to the suposively proffessional mechanic that fitted the immoboliser so I was left high and dry.Garage that changed the engine 99% sure it was but couldn't put it in writing. So Beware there are some cowboys out there that don't really know what they are doing !!!
