Well, the harmonic balancer pulley became de-bonded (that budgie noise I had remember?) and it was moving in and out and it was rubbing on the timing belt cover wearing a hole in it and depositing bits of melted plastic around the crank pulley, which then set hard and a piece must have been picked up by the timing belt causing it to jump on the pump pulley.
It suddenly happend about eight miles from home and made such a racket that people were turning around to have a look at what was aproaching!

The good news is, I've noticed the belt was changed just before I bought the truck (it's got a Goodyear belt on it) and the water pump and tensioner look new too!

I fitted a new belt anyway as I had one ready to fit.

Did you know my truck has done 95,000kms now?

Well, all I need it a bucket, 12mm and 10mm sockets, two pairs of molegrips a 12mm spanner and a flat blade screwdriver, and I can whip the rad out to clean it!

Getting used to doing it now, done it three times since last friday.
