  • 2 door roof racks!

Im going to be getting a kayak pretty soonish and well obviously need a roof rack to put it on! I dont really want to get a standard roof rack because i dont think its going to clear the roof light pod (which ive still got actually got round to bothering to order!)

So i was thinking can i get the 2 door RR and just mount it on the back doors so its on the back half of the truck???

If its possible to do this ...well where the hell can i find one

    Cheers

If you get your self a modern Kayak then it will fit in the boot!
    What kayak are you buying?

put uprights on the rack and it will clear any light bar/pod by miles

I know this photo isn't clear i thought i had a side on one, but can't find it. With them flat i reckon they will clear a pod but probably not a light bar.

Why have their faces melted, was the flash too bright on your camera?

have a look on there, there's a load of different carrying options for kayaks/canoes. A sit-on-top kayak like that may not clear a light pod lying flat / face down like the ones in my other picture as it will have a much more curved shape (rocker).

The uprights are just clamp on bars that point vertical from the roof rack so you carry the kayak effectively on it's side, i'll see if i can find a pic showing them carrying a boat.
            edit: quick one for now

i'm sure i got one of the surf or my escort with kayaks on the roof like this to give a better idea of how much more clearance it gives

The other way to do it is to use the roof rack bars as a light bar and hang the lights underneath it i know someone on here has done that recently (apache or ian619 maybe)

Must've been, i used the power from the flux capacitor on the surf for the flash

-Some of them are the young people from one of my youthgroups, so i can't publish photos without disguising them or getting theirs & their parents permission.
