    1990 Surf, should the drivers door key operate the central locking? The switch on the inside of the door works, but it would be useful to know if the key is meant to work before I start taking the door apart....

      Has your motor got an alarm or remote locking installed, my surf used to lock and unlock on the key until I had an cat 1 alarm fitted. I think some moron must of disconnected the cables

      if it does that might be a good starting point
