  • Ebay question

I ordered an item on the 15th of last month, that failed to appear. I contacted the seller via ebay who told me it had been sent, it appears that Royal Mail have lost it. The seller has started to claim for the item, but has informed me that it takes 4 to 6 weeks and you only get the value of the item back, not the postage.
Is this correct, and am I going to be out of pocket for the postage?
    Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Royal mail seem to be good at looseing stuff, just lost a DVD i ordered, (ebay)
The seller was very good and offered a refund right away, (only £4 inc post) dont know how long royal mail take to sort it out but if their service is up to standard, a long time i should'nt wonder, they used to be the best postal service in the world but now!!

        Have a look here

        http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/j...diaId=15500181

I sold something on ebay, which the buyer said never turned up.Went through all the claim route.Said it was worth £14.Got a cheque back within 14 days for £14.Then the fella emailed me to say the parcel had arrived.

        I had just earnt £14

Deppending on how you sent the parcel (i.e. 1st,2nd registered post etc),depends on how much you can claim

the seller should give you your cash back as its not really yours untill you recive it! Why should you not get the postage back you paid it!! why should he make money cos he will get the postage back!

They dont refund the full cost, just the cost of the item (1st class, 2nd class, recorded etc) or just fixed amounts (parcel).

Vicki refunds full amount inc postage if something goes missing, then claims from Royal Mail. It's good PR. Doesn't happen that often as she only sends stuff recorded mail these days as in the past she's had people try to claim off her then sell the bl00dy item on eBay!!! Cheeky tw*ts!

so, the item costs £1, the packaging costs £1... that's a total of £2 posted... this is your item cost.

                the postage costs £1.

total cost for item and p&P is £3..

what refund will you get?... just the £2??

Sounds about right - although you may find the item mysteriously arrives when the claim goes in (if it was signed for anyway) - we had that with some DVD's I bought
