i sort of agree with all that has been said above, they should not sell thier story to the press, they did what they had to do to survive, be it right or wrong no body can comment on what is right and wrong till they have been in that sort if situation...
the public will never and should never know what went on behind the doors of either government nor what was done to secure release, they should be happy that all the crew what ever thier choice of force(army, raf or navy) made it back alive.
ever since the second gulf war kicked off it has been a controversial war, one where no matter who gets hurt physically or mentally the press will take whatever side will cause the most controversy to get sales... a prime example is the rmp guys that were shot and then the families saying they want to sue the government for the kids death, they joined the armed forces they wouldnt be holding road blocks and riot lines in the middle of salisbury plain once in a while, an inherrant part of this job is that some day you will need to lay your life on the line and maybe ahve to pay the ultimate price whether or not you agree with the decision you signed to say you will carry out all orders of the queen and government etc and heirs and successors...
also another rant is why put someone on trial because they shot someone??? again no one can appreciate the sheer moment of terroe that someone feels when they are on edge in a hostile place, yeh sure there are rules of engagement but if someone is running at you screaming do you act on instinct or get out the card and run the risk of possibly getting your stick/chalk blown up by mr(s) suicide sid the muslim...
it started with the whole clegg issue in ireland and will never go away the armed forces have a job to do whether or not it is the right one it is the choice of someone at the top that gets paid more to decide
i feel my rant is over, sorry if this is harsh or long winded just had a rough day with other people hassling me about this....
