I must get 15-20 of these emails every day paypal / various credit cards / bank of america - none of which I own.
one important thing to remember with any of these types of email - which ever company involved - genuine emails will NEVER EVER ask you to log in to your account via a link in the email. even if the web address looks legit ie "paypal.com" - this purely a mask to hide the true address.
Also what normally stands out a mile is the grammer / spelling.

if in any doubt of the contents - always go to the website by typeing the address in the search bar manually - never follow the link.

I used to use a spam filter but it seemed to work as an anti spam filter so I binned it and sort through them myself. I will receive something like 50 -60 emails a day ( i have 6 accounts for buisness / friends ect) and only 5 are for me.
            Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

The line 'Dear PayPal customer!' should given the game away !!!!

Paypal write to you, not 'PayPal customer'
