Army style was my first nine years so no option even in Germany's mud fields / tank training areas, you can take a LR anywhere.

Just look @ what you are gonni drive through IE dont be a complete prat and do water too deep and remember what tyres you have on nobody runs MT on the road 'cos they are useless and noisy but off road nowt else matters even AT's are poo in the mud. Auto boxes aint too clever either off road so bear that in mind, easy on the wellie.

AT's on mine too, super quiet with "grip" on the tar, great off road if you know the limits.

Deffo gonni get me some spare wheels for MT's on for this winters shooting season though.

I done an off road play day at castle coombe in a misco before i got the surf. It does not teach you everything but gives you an idea.
          Working at last.......

first time off road was in my vitara in West Moors army fuel depot, was doing some building works there, but spent more time playing follow the leader with our foreman who had a long wheelbase landrover defender (company issued) Kept up with him everywhere, except some of the deeper water. When I got the surf my first off road was the Salisbury plains, where in true newbie style I removed the fog lamp. Didn't do too bad with road tyres either. Now I got some ATs and things are a lot better. Tested them green laning last weekend with mudsurfer and they're great. Had a couple of butt clenching moments, as I got a little carried away. But it was worth it

I did my first off roading in West Africa, followed by 5,500 miles around Morocco and the Western Sahara……

Needless to say, I learnt pretty dammed quick
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

disagree..Ran with Colway AT's and they lasted nearly 2 years and they had some serious c_r_a_p dished out on em. I run with an Auto box also...the only issue is having to reverse back down a hill, although sometimes you can throw it into neutral and use the brakes instead of the box trying to drive you down the hill

i did a 2 hour offroad experence in a landy with muds on then took my truck round with bfg ats and it was just as good. Plenty of DEEP mud.

Been greenlaning and through a few fords and the ats were great!

got some muds on the rear at the mo and they are fine on road (bit slipery in the wet but like the guys say know your limits) not really tryed it too much in the mud but seem to be all good!
it never rain it pours! glad I got the 4X4
