Insurance and year confusion

Hi All

Just (really just!) bought a 1991 Hi lux 2.4d. However, the insurers seem to think this is a 1997 model (this is the year of first registration), and thus try and charge me more!

Is this normal? I tried to get the insurers to look up 1991 Hi Lux (or Hilux or surf etc) but he found no records ... just landcruisers.

So, any ideas, experiences, reccomended insurers?

try lifesure insurance they do my insurance on my truck they have a link of this website i hope this helps

Mine's with Direct Line and they knew what it was straight away - but mine is a 1993, but that shouldn't make any difference ...

what is the date of manufacture on the log book.
Also your insurance comp may not of even heard of a surf or just dont insure them .do a search on here for insurance and give one of them a ring

Lots of company's wont insure imports. Try getting an online quote off Confused. Com. and they wont even accept that Surfs exist. Have a word with Adrian Flux mate, they also insure old farts like me as well. Just got my renewal from them £290 fully comp with wife as second driver, protected ncb and loads of other bits and bobs.
