  • Strobe kits

    Hello everyone...

I use my truck for marshalling and recovery sometimes and wanted to connect a strobe kit to the indicators and rear fogs, so when I'm stationary I can make sure I am clearly visible...

Does anyone know if there are kits that can be connected to regular lights, or do I have to use LEDs? And to Paul (The Ferret) can I legally attach these to the lights providing they are only used in the correct way???

all i know is you drill a hole in the back to accommodate them, and no they don't replace the headlight lamps

They don't replace the headlight bulbs.
Just drill a hole in the headlight reflector and glue them in. Then just wire them up like you would any accessory with an on/off switch.

In my experience most of these cheap strobes are cheap for a reason - they're not very bright - something like 1w power (halogen strobe) or a handfull of millwatts for leds. they may look good close up - but if you want to be instantly noticeable - even in daylight - get some proper power ones. the police type are rated at 80w (halogen) or some services use generation III leds - 1w.
I bought some low powered ones myself ( two diffrent sets) I soon put them back on ebay. they were similar to christmas tree lights!!
                          Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!
