  • Twisted Parts!!

Mrs Spratts (hello Claire) Dual Mast Firewheel thread has inspired me.

The former Mrs Kitesurf found me working on our 1971 Volvo 145. I was not in a good mood, when she innocently asked, "How is it going?"
I let loose a string of expletives,"Poxy, ******, 'kin' gaskets mutter, mutter.............."
She went into our local garage and MOT station and asked for ePoxy Gasket Sealant!! Took her a while to live that one down
    It's only a hobby!

When I was 13 I had my first job on Saturdays working in a car spares shop . Part of the interview was to see if I could supply the correct part which was asked for by the customer .
There I was pretty confident I knew a fair amount about cars for my age .
    1 . Q How much antifreeze for a VW Beetle ?
No good , I can't find VW Beetle listed in catalogue .Panic !!
    2. Q Clutch required for a 1971 MK3 Cortina auto ?
Again , no good , not in catalogue , more panic !!!!!

Only after all the others laughing at me was I told Beetle is air cooled ,and Cortina autos do not have a clutch .
I did have a laugh back when a lady came in and bought a cork rocker cover gasket for a Ford Escort which her husband had asked her to buy while he worked on the car . She paid for it and then folded it in 4 so it would fit in her handbag .
We all smiled as she left , and then she came back 15 mins later for another one which she held very carefully making sure she did not bend it or put it in her bag.
A 4 piece rocker cover was in the dustbin !!( cork don't bend very well )
