Firstly - caps lock off = stop shouting

Secondly, as I understand it, the tax increase is for all vehicles with high emissions, not just 4x4s - so let's try not to get too exited.

Yes but, if you can afford a £150,000 Bently, is £400 road tax really going to bother you? lets face it these people spend £400 on a pair of shoes!

Sorry god.. I was going off what the DVLA informed me! Where you in court when I went.. No I didnt think you where.

I thought the idea of forums where for people to have their say, not to be shot down for telling their side of a story!

          Rant over !

the date on the link is the date that they started SORN regulations that a vehicle has to be taxed or off the road, its got nowt to do with the breakdown of which catagory you fall into for duty now. Any vehicle since that date without tax gets a ticket from the nice computer at swansea. Why did you go to court over not having tax? There is no defence, you either have it, or you don't...

                    No !

It'll cost you £180 this year, £185 next and £190 the year after !

                    (Unless they change their minds)

Life is too important to take seriously !

Because there is confusion over the date of first registration. SORN was not needed to be declaired on cars which where first regd in this country before a set date. My Celica was made first regd in Japan in 1991 and in this country in 2005. Its the date of registration in the UK which the DVLA look at, not the date the car is first registred in another country. This is my point. My car was first regd in 2005 altough its some 16 years old.

Like I said.. I think there will be a loophole here for Mr Brown.. and if they dont work it this way then I will be going for my fine to be quashed.

SORN is needed for ANY vehicle that is not taxed or s$$$$ped. import, or not. I have a bike here that is 1986, and it is SORN.

Yeah thats what i thought! We got three philips panda bike/things here and well they are long since forgotten about by anyone/thing BUT The 197-something Triumph spitfire my dad got me when i was about 15!! was sorn!

Even if a car is tax excempt it still needs to re registered to get a new "free" tax disc etc

Band G did not come in until 23rd March 2006, before that the banding system was started on March 1st 2001. So you have nothing to worry about.

My Mazda RX8 is in band G and I'm feeling a bit picked on! The trouble is no one knows I'm destroying the environment 'cos its not a 4x4.............. I was going to swap it for a tax free Band A car, small problem though.... DVLA website shows no cars in band A currently on sale in the UK! Wot a CON!

I have now decided, if I'm paying the tax anyway, I'll drive it more and get my monies worth!

I hate this government more every day.....and I hated them already in 97. Come the day of the revolution brother, there is a place on the wall...........
Parts of your engine go up, stop then go back! Mm!
