A- Bar Bolts

Good day ladies and gents

Have a small problem and a very large problem.

Small problem- Cannot find correct bolts for fitting original A bar to the front of my 92 SSRX.
Live in rural Scotland and been trogging about the tractor parts shops all day. They told me they THINK they may be fine-metric, and these are apparently hard to source.
Does anyone have a spare set or some advice?

What about Toyota?


Thats the wee problem.

The big problem is the car is filling the coolant expansion tank, smoking from the rear and blowing bubbles from the head gasket.

Getting prepared to send to garage and get cylinder head changed.
I thought best plan would be get them to strip and test the head, then order one from UK cylinder head when its condemned.

But does anyone think that going straight for the replacement head is a better idea, saves £80 pressure test and a few days hanging around.

But of course could be grim if the head is sound.

Decisions....decisions.

There is a cylinder head for sale on ebay- should I be tempted?

I tell you, had this surf three months and its hard work. I hope its worth the wait and investment.

i,m with linda mines a 2.4 92 and its sound, SO FAR
think one on e-bay said it was relativly new, send him e-mail to confirm.
might save you some hard earned cash hey

Bolt Size

Hi Whitesnake
the thread your looking for is 12mm diameter x 1.25mm pitch. It is the same thread as the cylinder head bolt. I tried to get four for an arrester bar and found I allready had 18 of them. However the shortest head bolt has to larger plain portion for your needs. Sorry.

12mm doesn't fit- maybe 10 or 8mm.

Any further comments?

You can get them from Toyota, take the frame number of your Surf with you. If you get the bolts that normally hold the towing hook on then there will be a non threaded part to it. You will either need two hooks or make some spacers up.
