  • shift lever stuck

Hi I asked about this problem before, after towing a trailer the shift lever doesn't move out of park when I depress the brake pedal and my brake lights don't work, i was told that a fuse or relay might have blown, so I was wondering where this fuse or relay would be so I can replace it. I had a quick look in both the in-car fuse board and the engine comparment one and didnt find any blown fuses. What am I looking for!!!help! Its a 3rd gen ssr-x. any help would be great. thanks

He still hasn't answered that since Gonzo mentioned it in the tech section.

my mates estima has the same problem... he plugged the light board in upside down and forced the plug... now some lights that didn't work before, do work and others don't work...

i couldn't trace a problem that night so i suggested ripping out and re-wire the towbar electrics and try again.

Indicators still working okay, BTW? Managed to collar a flasher relay, (I think), out of a vehicle today, so will be having a peek inside that to see whats needed to make an electronic version. Which, deviating somewhat, does lead to another question. Would this look out of place on the Surf?

Have you tried spraying a whole load of wd40 into the towbar electrical socket?
                        it's in me shed, mate.

No offence taken. It's just a niggle when it's already had a valid answer in the tech section.

Another option, as Chillitt has mentioned are the towbar electrics themselves. Also, which fusebox(es) have you checked for the fuse? I believe the tail lamp fuses are in the driver footwell fusebox.
