Good man. That's what I like to see, a bit of honesty on here.

I bet there are a lot more that have a soft spot, but they keep that quiet!!

That's because it IS on the back of a Military vehicle, my Defender TUM FFR, standard equipment.

It is a NATO tow jaw, fitted to all Military vehicles. They swivel 360 deg. You would pull the chassis in half before that broke, I've seen a snatch recovery where the whole rear crossmember was pulled off.....

Place I worked at years ago had an ex-army radio vehicle with NATO hooks front and rear - never had any problems finding a parking space The only problem we had with it was when the bearings siezed on the (24V) dynamo and it stalled the engine

we don't want any contamination here you know!

Everyone has to begin the week-end with a clean truck, it's Welsh off-roading law.

Talking about NATO hitches…. In 2005 a Lawyer in a black series 3 BMW rear ended my Series IIA Land Rover at some traffic lights….

I got out to find that my NATO hitch had made a right mess of the front of his BMW… checked for damage on mine… hitch was fine, that’s good… but oh dear look at this, there is a 1 cm cut in one of my expensive, hard to get original LR mud flaps (where it hit the spring hanger).

He then had the cheek to phone me later that morning to ask “if my brake lights where working properly”.
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL
