been an interesting couple of weeks at my works, we had 9 asylum seekers on the books, all with paperwork and had actually been employed by the firm. and have been for 2-3 years.
well we had the immigration people turn up and they have taken 6 of them away, and 2 got wind of what was happening and did a runner, 1 of them is wanted for stabbing a judge in iran, and one is a deserter from the iranian army...
all have different names when it came to court proceedings and have been some have been claiming benefits under another name while working and paying tax....
the one guy who is legal, has left aswell, probably feeling a bit of an outsider as his english is terrible and all his mates have gone.
out of 9 employed 8 are illegal. if thats indicative of the country wide stats its a frightening thought...
