  • worcester to guildford tonight - road report please!

    Supposed to be driving to Guildford tonight - what are the roads like? Can anyone comment please???

    Worcester M5 south to Cheltenham
    Birdlip (ha!!!!)
    A419 to Swindon (guess that might be a bit snowy)
    swindon to Newbury
    newbury to guildford

    OR (the way we dont like to go)

    Worcs north M5 - M42 - M40 oxford, M25, A3

    traffic / weather reports appreciated.

    As far as I know, Birdlip shouldn't be a problem. We've only had a little snow today, settled this morning on grass, but nothing on the roads. Should be fine.

    Or, if you're in the Surf, use Greenway Lane to get up Birdlip! Much more fun!!

    Can't comment on the other bits, tho!

            snowing well here, settling over frozen slush... still, if you make it to j15 m40 you can pop in for a brew....(but i wouldn't recommend coming this way..)

                  cheers all, since it took me 50 mins to get accross worcester, then cook and eat dinner, decided to go tomorrow instead.
                  thanks for the replies - surprised the high ground cheltenham to swindon is OK though.

                    Not sure I'd use the Newbury route to get toi Guildford. I used to work there about 14 years ago and always used the A249M route through Bracknell as that was always the quickest. Via Newbury can get dicey in bad weather.
