ready for snow - but forgot the chains! please help

just packed truck ready to cross channel in morning...forgot to buy snow chains!

we are off snowkiting for two weeks in east germany. our man over there said 'if you come with only road tyres, you will LOSE!'

we only have road tyres

i tried halfords a few days ago - the chains there only go up to 225 and surf tyres are 265 - that means they wont fit, correct?

so anyway - does anyone know of a place where i can get chains on route between huntingdon and dover? small d iversion no p robs.

maybe a member on here has some they want to sell?

failing that - surf any g ood without chains?

help much appreciated. leaving tomorrow 7am

I googled it and found a place in sevenoaks, kent, tn23. have some s/h chains for 4x4 from £45.00. can't post link.

I have two sets, one fit the small, old school 15 inch steel wheels (215-15 I think) and one set of 31-10.5-15 (I think - standard surf wheel size). I'm in N16 and you can pick 'em up anytime between 8 and 9 tomorrow morning if that's any help.

a little bit off route but if you go m2 instead of m20 it's not far off and should only add 1/2 hour or so onto the journey.

If you get desperate give us a bell on 07843 443898 anytime after 8.00am. My local motor factors had some in a couple of weeks back, plus eurocarparts may have them, and they're not far off the motorway, 2mins from m20 j10. I also got a set of a/ts in the garden although i can't remember how good they are. I'm in Ashford so only just off route, about 2 miles from m20 j9. Or if you manage to source some and want someone to go pick em up and meet you en route aslong as they're not too far out the way. I'm sure there's a place in Dover that does them aswell. If i can be of any help give us a call.

i'm confident with the contact details of the suppliers posted on this thread by nero i can source what i need, or else will seek some out in the flatter part of germany

edit: forgot to mention there was an accident in dover about 7.45 this evening, i got there at 8.05 and got stuck in traffic for an hour. But the queues were well back when i left Dover at about 10.15, 2-3 hour delays+ but the road has reopened now they just tryin to clear the backlog of lorries and traffic for the docks. Hopefully it'll be clear by the time you get down this way though.
