  • touch up pens

    anyone out there got any good tips on using touch up pens other than dab it on.
    would like to try and get a good finish with one.
    any ideas tips would be greatly appreciated.
    and is colour match polish worth it for minor scratches
    cheers.

    build the paint up,apply then let it dry over a few hours then re-apply,do this in a few coats let dry then t-cut in.the repair should be almost invisible.

      Colour match polish will only cover up very minor scratches, if it's down to the undercoat it may cover it for a while but the next good wash will show the scratch up again.

      As for touch up pens I think they're a cheap last resort, normally only used to stop rust setting in! But in saying that they're a darn site better and more pleasing to the eye than a rusty patch.

        Don't use the brush or nib to apply the paint. Use a pin and slowly build up the colour leaving a slight depression. then, after leaving the base coat for twenty four hours apply clear laquer until it is slightly proud of the surrounding area. Then, again after at least twenty four houirs flatten with 1200 grit paper used wet with a little soap. Wear the paper out first by folding it and rubbing the abrasives together. Don't worry if you dull the surrounding paint as now use cutting compound and a good silicone free polish. Takes time but this will give the best result.
