i just sold a car on ebay...

when the winning bidder info came up it had a postal address in Lithuania!!... had to be a scam???

within 5 mins i had a paypal email saying he'd paid and another saying he'll call tomorrow to arrange collection on saturday!!

fingers crossed... but i got the money, so half way there!!

We've had money taken off us before now by PayPal.

Check he's a 'verified user' before handing over the keys. If he's not, withdraw the money from Paypal NOW!

Honestly, paypal are bigger scammers than the scammers when it comes to non-verified users.

Cant emphasise this enough Matt. We've been stung this way more than once. PayPal are Tw*ts. (Owned by eBay -'nuff said!)

Wife got a e-mail from pay pal yesterday saying that someone was using her account . Clicked on the link and AOL alarm bells went off and refused her access ....A con in other words ...Aol has its uses

Slug Man - do not let this car go.

this is almost certainly a scam - if you part with your car, and the credit card used by the lithuanian is a fake/cloned/stolen, paypal will take the money back from your account (and charge you a tenner for the priviledge)

get in touch with the buyer - tell him you will only accept cash on delivery and then get in touch with paypal and tell them to cancel the payment as you suspect a scam.

DO NOT PART WITH YOUR CAR.

and dont give the buyer your address until you are completely satisfied he is genuine.

when he turns up, ask for ID, take his photograph, write out a bill of sale and keep a signed copy for yourself.

make sure you fill out the V5 properly too - only give him the new keeper bit - make sure you post the other bit yourself.
