Maurice its gonna be a little while coz they arent goin on while I still have the low-ar$e and the bmx tyres - would look pretty naff, so as soon as Ciaran changes his mind and sells out I'll be gettin new rims . Really though the plan is ES9000's on the rear, 3000's up front, supertrux +2" springs. Seen as I'm -2" toystock springs at the minute does that mean new springs will give me 4" , add that to 2" of new tyre radius and 2" of bodylift ... possibly 8 .
Anyway it'll probably be the bodylift, black rims and BFG's, new springs and shocks all at the same time. I might take her off the road for a while and put the backup on for 3 mths tax...

does that come with -
bumper brackets?
steering column spacer?
radiator brackets?
gear linkage extension?
or is that just the spacers and bolts?
yep the bumper brackets are bolted 2gether, they are the square steel part in the pic
steering column spacer on a 2nd gen not needed for 2" lift or less according to Roger, different story on a 3rd gen I think with your rack and pinion steering setup - but he does all the parts for these lifts for all gens
radiator brackets are the 2 lads in the lower right
gear linkage extension I think isnt necessary for a 1" lift but if its needed for more than that dont worry he de man
the spacers you see in the pic are 'ultimate blocks' and the hardware i.e the bolts are grade 8, top strength
I got what you see in the pic, delivered from California for €160 / £87
** and Delboy he valued the goods on the parcel at $50 and no customs tax was demanded (worth noting anyone thinking of buying off him to remind him value the goods such that you wont be hit for duties, that said I forgot to and he did it anyway)Last edited by JimL; 27 January 2004, 23:34.

Dabig,
I printed out the 25 pages or so of his stuff to do with lifts, its a better way of going thru the stuff if you can do it. Heres some cut & pastes
****************************** ***
At 2" on most Toyotas, you will find that in addition to the items that a 1" lift affects, you will need to extend the hydraulic line to the clutch slave cylinder.- A stock front brake line works well for this.
What about automatic transmissions?
Most Toyota 4WD body lift kits would not work on vehicles with automatic transmissions.
For Tacoma and 3rd. gen 4Runner applications, the shift linkage only requires adjustment, no bracket is needed
****************************** *****
3rd gen steering...
Toyota vehicles with rack and pinion steering typically use a nearly vertical steering shaft that runs from the steering column penetration of the firewall to the steering rack mounted on the frame. Since the shaft is vertical, it is directly affected by a body lift. There is some amount of adjustment at the lower clamp, sometimes and inch or more of excess shaft is inside the clamp. However, it is difficult to ascertain the amount of spline remaining inside the clamp without removing the steering shaft. At the base of the steering shaft is the "rag joint", that allows for slight misalignment and also helps to absorb jolts from the road. It is possible to slightly extend the length of the shaft with washers on top of the rag joint. Beyond about 1/2" and the stop bolts on the rag joint will slip past the slots on the steering shaft and this would leave the rag joint unsupported and subject to damage. Therefore, an extension of some is required.
2" extensions available for $40.00 on existing body lifts

2nd gen steering....
For recirculating ball steering (pictured left in image "C" above), generally the steering shaft is extendable (and collapsable for crash safety). Buf if you can't extend the shaft, a similar bolt-in rag joint spacer is available. Since the steering shaft is at an angle, you usually only need extensions over 2" of lift and then only at 1/2 the amount of lift. For example a 1" spacer should be enoough for a 2" lift. Due to the extra machining for this type of rag joint, the spacers run $35.00 for use on existing body lifts, or $30 when purchased as part of a 4Crawler body lift kit. This type of spacer can be used on 2"-3" lifted Toyota 4x4 pickups and 4Runners from 1995 and earlier. Note that it is not required as it is usually easy to extend the stock steering shaft.
Please read his site though coz I cant be trusted, I'm after sneaking out of my ward and am in the orderly's officeLast edited by JimL; 28 January 2004, 00:25.
