Can someone tell me if MP3 and WMA use same amount of space if transfered to disc. Up to now, using Nero i have been clicking on "make MP3 Disc" and then burning MP3's from computer. I get app 12-14 albums, but i have just been told by someone, i should burn as Data disc, but on trying, still only got 12app albums on a 700mb CD-R disc.
I'm not complaining, but when someone tells me i can get hundreds of songs on CD-R disc, i wonder if its B""""Sh"" or not.
    Thanks Philip
    Still Searching,

i fink ur spot on there matey with the average capacity of albums on a 700mb cd disc. one factor that would increase the amount possible is the bit rate of the music file, ie approx range 64kbits per second upto 320kbits the higher the bit rate the better the quality but also the larger the file. so two albums in lower quality take as much space as one in high quality. i download me music so i choose the higher quality and so average 7 albums a disc in mp3 format. im not sure if im right but i fink lower quality wma still sounds very good which is what me dad uses, and if so takes less room.
( bit all over the place there with me description but hey ho)

go into ur windows media player and mess about with the settings u rip music of a cd with changing the bit rate and ul find out the difference in quality compared to file size.

WMAs supposedly produce a better quality recording than an MP3 of the same bit-rate. This means that you could record them at a lower bit-rate than the MP3, with the same quality, but smaller file size and thus more on a CD.

I think that in Nero, 'Make MP3 disc' is just a user friendly way of creating a data disc using MP3 files. The end result is most likely the same, so don't worry there.

The only real concern is can whatever you're using the resulting CD on play WMA files? Not all can.
