The DVLA don't believe that Surfs exist. I imported a Hilux Surf this year, had it SAVed, registered etc and when I got the "log book", I noticed that there was nothing about the model. All it had was Toyota as the maker, then that it was a saloon. I sent it back to the DVLA asking them to put in:
    Model: Hilux Surf
    Type: SSR-G
    Variant: KZN185W
I got a phone call from the DVLA saying that they didn't have such a thing as a Hilux Surf listed, so could they call it a Hilux 4x4 instead. I find it strange, to say the least. If it doesn't exist, how come I was charged so much tax?
Has anyone else had this experience - do your log books say Hilux Surf?

My log book says toyota, estate body, two axle rigid body. 4x4 isn't mentioned anywhere.

Typical of civil service. Everything has to fit into a convenient and predetermined place. No room for thinking - only doing. This is not a poke at the average civil servant as they are only doing what they are told but the bureaucratic has beens that don't have any idea what the real world is like that make the rules.

it depends on what mood the DVLA are in when they fill in the log book, My 2nd gen 3.0lt says toyota 2 axle rigid body estate, but the wife's 2nd gen 2.4 has toyota surf, 2 axle rigid body estate!

Also the 2.4 is listed has having 5 seats (plus driver) and the 3.0 as 4 plus driver!

the DVLA don't know which planet there on
