    1Kw = 1.36hp or
    1hp = 0.735kw

    Power is basically a measure of the amount of energy used over a period of time.

    If you want to educate yourself a touch more read this.

    http://www.ftexploring.com/energy/power_1.html

    If you are happy with the way things are dont. Im old and was brought up imperial, but then spent my working life in metric or SI. Have to say that using kw rather than BTUs/ hour, min, sec or HP, or pound feet per min and so on does make a certain sense.

      Power is independent of time. It can be an instantaneous quantity. If you measure power over time it becomes kW/h (or Ah in battery capacity terms)

              and as for warp speed the only thing that warps is the bodywork when I go to light speed

                My anorak is going back in the cupboard after this post. but trust me you really need to check the link and have a read.

                Power is not independent of time. Power can not be instanteous.

                    Dont you mean Watt!!
                    never did understand why it was measured in horse power, i mean some horses are stronger than others, like shire horses, race horses are faster though, so is it BSHP or BRHP

                        Actually, theoretically it can.

                        If there is current flow, there is power. How long do you think an electron needs? Milliseconds? Minutes? Nope. Instantaneous.

                          Sure'y current takes time to travel, it may be that it's impossible to break time down enough to be able to measure it, Thinking about the speed of light!
                          that can be measured,

                            the only instantanious power was the big bang, and i hope no ones trying to set one of them off again... not in a 2.4 anyway....
                            it's in me shed, mate.
